Beef tallow contains the same fatty acid content as the natural oils produced by our skin. The similarity in tallow and our natural sebum aids in repairing the skin barrier while still allowing the skin to breathe. This means easy absorption and better moisture retention. On the comedogenic scale tallow rates at about a 2 which is lower than coconut oil, and around the same as shea butter. This means the likelihood of it causing pore congestion is very low. Tallow is also packed with antioxidants and vitamins. Vitamins A, D, E & K promote healthy cell growth and protect from UV damage as well as damage caused by free radicals. Tallow also contains anti-inflammatory properties that aid in the healing of many skin conditions. We formulate all our products with intention. Essential oils are added to enhance the healing and antibacterial properties of the tallow.
