Turning suet to the odorless buttery tallow that 2 Seeds produces is a long journey. Suet is the fat deposits around the organs of the cattle. Our suet is sourced through local butchers from ethically-raised grass-fed beef. At the moment we are using suet from Cottonwood Ranch in Front Royal, VA. 

The suet is picked up frozen shortly after it’s been butchered, it comes home and processing begins immediately. The idea of putting organ fat on your face can sound a little intimidating or even unpleasant but the the 2 Seeds rendering process is extremely thorough. Nothing is packaged until it is 100% pure. Plus your grandmother’s, grandmother’s, great grandmother was doing it too and everyone knows she was gorgeous. 

The journey begins with 4-6 wet renders, only stopping once the liquid runs clear and is completely odorless. It’s finished with 1-3 dry renders, depending on what infusions are going into the tallow. After the tallow is “seasoned” (mixed with essential oil and infusion combinations based on our recipes), it is lightly whipped and then packaged while still warm. Whipping and packaging it while it's still warm lets the tallow still come out silky and fluffy but still allowing it to settle in the jar. 

No air pockets = better product for our customers. 

Each tallow recipe is intentionally curated based on the healing properties of the herbs and plants the Earth has given us. Blue Ridge Vanilla is infused with vanilla and blue tansy oil. Perfect for sensitive and irritated skin looking for relief and healing support. Blue tansy encourages healing while protecting from bacteria and fungi. Appalachian Forest is scented with vetiver, cedar wood and may chang essential oil. This combination is intended for deep hydration and cellular regeneration perfect for scars and dark spots. The cedar wood also gives it antibacterial properties. All ingredients and processes are completely transparent and crafted with purpose.

I created 2 Seeds to serve as a safe space where all product formulas are intentionally curated with non-toxic, all natural, and organic ingredients. I have always felt that whether we are consuming through our mouths or our skin, what we consume shouldn’t be produced in great quantities of very low quality. Big Brand cosmetic companies use carcinogenic and endocrine disrupting chemicals in their ingredients that cause more problems than they solve. Every product at 2 Seeds is handcrafted in small batches with minimal and natural ingredients that actually support our bodies. Each product was curated with the intention of strengthening the bond between The Earth and our bodies. The Earth is one of our greatest sources of healing.
