The word “fragrance” or “perfume” is a blanket term for a combination of chemicals that create a certain scent. This list of harmful chemicals is protected as a “trade secret” leaving consumers blind to what they are truly being exposed to. These chemicals can be found in body spray, lotion, shampoo & conditioner, feminine wash, laundry soap, fabric softener, candles, room sprays and more. Fragrance chemicals are endocrine system disruptors that have been proven to cause hormone dependent cancers like prostate and breast cancer, falling sperm counts, nervous system damage, hormone imbalances and problems during foetal development, and fertility problems in women, and even linked to mental health concerns.

The photo to the right is a sign posted in a fertility office in the US. If simply wearing perfume to a fertility office can damage developing embryos, what harm is it causing when we are putting it directly on our bodies and clothes?
